problem

When a legacy student events website that many students relied on was shut down, it created a sudden gap in the market. Students lost a central place to discover events, activities, and student offers. We saw this as an opportunity to build a better mobile-first experience for students, while also creating a marketing marketplace for companies, and to prove that no-code tools could be used to design, build, and launch real products at speed. The challenge was to take the product from zero to a production-ready iOS and Android app in a highly compressed timeline.

solution

The final product was a mobile-first student events and marketing marketplace available on iOS and Android. The app allowed students to find information regarding housing, events, activities, student offers, and local experiences in one place, tailored to their student lifestyle and location. For companies, the platform provided a new direct marketing channel to reach the student segment through campaigns, offers, and event promotion. The marketplace connected both sides through a simple publishing and discovery flow.

responsibility

I led the design and development of the website, the full app UX/UI, and the business development efforts, working closely and sharing the responsibility with my co-founders on the no-code development, backend architecture, and app deployment to both the App Store and Google Play.

When a legacy student events website was shut down, we saw an opportunity to build a better mobile-first experience for students and a new marketing channel for companies. I led product design, app UX/UI, website design and development, and business development, working closely with my co-founders on growth and sales.

Using a no-code stack, we designed, built, and launched a production-ready iOS and Android app in 30 days, validating real user demand through a live market launch.

Key Decisions

  1. Build a two-sided marketplace, not just a student app
Instead of replacing the legacy student events website with a simple directory, we expanded the concept into a two-sided marketplace. The platform served students with events, activities, and offers — while creating a new marketing channel for companies to reach the student segment.

  2. Use no-code to compress time-to-market
We chose a no-code stack to enable rapid product development and fast iteration without a traditional engineering team. This allowed us to go from concept to a production-ready iOS and Android app in 30 days.

  3. Design mobile-first for the student lifestyle
We designed the experience specifically for student behavior: fast discovery, location-based events, simple onboarding, and high-frequency engagement around activities, discounts, and social life.

Results & Impact

Within days of launch, the app reached #7 most popular Entertainment app on Google Play, ranked Top 30 on the App Store, and surpassed 2,000 downloads within the first few days.

Through targeted growth tactics, the platform reached thousands of active users and secured three paying clients who used the marketplace to market their offerings to students — driving increased exposure and revenue for their businesses.

The launch validated strong demand from the student segment and demonstrated that a two-sided marketplace built with no-code tools could reach meaningful traction at speed.

What kind of designer am I?

I’m a product and growth designer who builds real products that drive real business outcomes. I work end-to-end across strategy, UX, UI, and delivery, with a strong focus on growth, conversion, and execution.

What roles am I looking for?

Senior Product Designer, Growth Designer, or Design Lead roles where design is close to product, business, and execution.

What industries have I worked in?

Fintech, climate tech, enterprise innovation, B2B SaaS, marketplaces, and consumer apps across both startups and Fortune 500 companies.

Do I launch to production?

I have designed, built, and launched production web, Android, and iOS products using no-code tools and AI-powered development workflows. I’ve shipped live growth platforms, marketplaces, and mobile apps, and I’m currently deepening my engineering skills using tools like Claude Code and Cursor to move even faster from idea to production.

What more can I do?

If you’d like to go deeper into any of my work or learn more about how I think and build, I’d be glad to have a conversation. Let’s connect and explore whether there’s a good fit :)
